Jamie Lee Curtis quickly turned her latest The View appearance into a warm check-in on Joy Behar. The Oscar-winning actress visited the ABC panel on October 28 and repeatedly asked whether Behar was okay.
The longtime co-host had returned one day earlier after nearly a month away with a dislocated shoulder. Curtis gave her a “special ‘mwah’” and called her “the injured bird.” The affectionate concern became a running bit throughout the segment.
Jamie Lee Curtis gives Joy Behar extra affection after her injury-related absence
During the October 28 episode of “The View,” Curtis made her 22nd appearance on the show. ABC had booked her to discuss “Newlyweds,” which she co-created and executive produced. After greeting the panel, she sat beside Joy Behar. “A special ‘mwah’ for you,” Curtis said. She immediately asked, “How are you?” Behar joked, “Why? ‘Cause I’m a pathetic case?” Curtis answered, “No, because you’re the injured bird.” Then, she added, “We love you.”
Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis kept returning to Behar’s recovery throughout the conversation. Later, she asked, “Don’t we all just want to curl around you?” She followed with, “You good? You OK?” Behar deadpanned, “You’re scaring me.” Curtis laughed and replied, “That’s my job.” Then, she checked once more, asking, “Now, are you OK?” Behar answered simply, “I’m fine.” However, Curtis explained the repeated attention. “I love you! … I like you!” she said. She added, “I’ve known you for 22 years.” The exchange repeatedly brought the conversation back to Behar.
For context, Behar had returned to “The View” on October 27 after nearly four weeks away. She said a fall inside the building dislocated her shoulder. Behar described the resulting pain as “worse than childbirth.” She joked that she “would have given up names to the CIA” under that level of pain. Still, Curtis appeared determined to give her extra affection one day later. “So I can fawn on you a little bit,” Curtis told her. Sunny Hostin replied, “We’ve been fawning her.” Then, the panel finally moved the interview forward.
