Crunchyroll Slammed After Axing Hunter x Hunter: ‘They Removed Peak’

Fans are furious as Crunchyroll has removed the 2011 anime series Hunter x Hunter from its platform. Viewers rely on Crunchyroll to stream their favorite anime titles. However, eagle-eyed fans noticed that the platform quietly axed the fantasy-adventure anime without any prior warning to fans. This has led to outrage on social media, with people expressing their disappointment over the streaming service’s decision.

Fans fume as Crunchyroll removes Hunter x Hunter

Anime fans express their anger at Crunchyroll for removing Hunter x Hunter without any announcement. As of writing, the platform hasn’t issued a statement explaining this instance. However, fans are guessing that the most likely reason could be licensing issues or lower viewership.

Fans have expressed their displeasure on X (formerly Twitter). One fan remarked, “Damn. They removed peak.” A second fan retorted, “I am very close to canceling my subscription. What is the point of the biggest anime company in the world if they can’t keep classics and older anime up? Also not putting out full seasons and only having half of some shows? Yikes guys. Along with the info dump. Yikes.”

A third fan commented, “Another reason to cancel s**t crunchyroll.” A fourth fan wrote, “Crunchyroll raising prices but can’t keep rights to classics. Are you retarded?” Finally, one fan penned, “Why are y’all paying for a service that literally doesn’t have the anime you’re looking for? Waste of money. For such a high-costing service, we should be able to access any anime we want.”

As per more fan comments, Crunchyroll seemingly removed the shonen anime because it does not have English dubs. However, fans can stream Hunter x Hunter on Netflix and Hulu. The anime released 148 episodes from 2011 to 2014.

Interestingly, Nippon Animation adapted Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga into an anime in 1999, long before the 2011 reboot materialized.
