Donald Trump Posts AI Video of Himself Fighting Canadian Hockey Player

President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video on February 23 depicting himself competing against Canadian hockey players, following the United States men’s hockey team’s gold medal victory at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.

The minute-long video, created using Grok AI, shows Trump in his signature blue suit and red tie skating alongside players of the U.S. squad. It then shows him checking Canadian players on the Canadian hockey team, dropping his gloves to throw punches at an opponent, and eventually scoring the game-winning goal. The clip ends with teammates swarming him on the ice in celebration.

The post followed America’s win over Canada in the Olympic gold medal game. While the video was part of his recent streak, it also played into Donald Trump’s ongoing public rivalry with Canada’s political leadership.

The AI video appeared to respond to comments made after the NHL’s Nations Face-Off, when former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game” after Canada had previously won. Trump’s latest post suggested a playful reversal of fortunes after Team U.S.A.’s Olympic triumph.

Beyond the AI video, the President also issued a formal congratulatory message on Truth Social. He wrote, “Congratulations to our great U.S.A. Ice Hockey team. THEY WON THE GOLD. WOW!” He later added, “LOTS OF WINNING!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

According to the Detroit Free Press, Trump personally connected with the team following the victory. Coach Mike Sullivan said, “The players just had the President on, I don’t know what it was, what do you call it, FaceTime, whatever, in the locker room. He just spoke to the group, expressing how proud he was of the group and congratulating everybody on the win.” Team captain Auston Matthews confirmed, “He called and just congratulated us.”

The United States secured the gold medal with a 2-1 overtime win against Canada in Milan.
