Seward told The Sun that the news likely hit the King hard, speculating, “I think that King Charles would have been horrified, absolutely horrified,” and adding, “He wouldn’t have known what was happening – and this was an arrest where Andrew wouldn’t have known either.”
Moreover, the expert described the kind of police search she believes took place and suggested Charles would only have learned about it once it happened. She also said that the King would focus on keeping the monarchy steady in public.
Seward continued, “Like a lot of people in really high positions – and you can’t get much higher than head of state – he would have just gone into official mode and not allowed his emotions to override it,” adding, “I think he’d say, right, this has got to be done, let’s do it now, let’s get it out by midday at the latest.”
