Murder in a Small Town Boss Breaks Down Season 2’s Romantic Cliffhanger Finale

Murder in a Small Town Season 2 finale closed the Nightshade case. However, it has left fans curious about Karl and Cassandra. The duo was attending Holly’s photography show, and the night ended with a huge surprise. Creator Ian Weir has revealed that the emotional cliffhanger at the end was exactly what the writers intended to leave viewers with.

Ian Weir thinks Cassandra is ‘ready to spend the rest of her life with’ Karl in Murder in a Small Town

Ian Weir discussed Karl and Cassandra’s relationship on Murder in a Small Town. He said that the couple has the heart of the series. They chose the finale’s beat to reflect how much they have grown together.

He said in an interview with Soaps.com, “The heart of the show is the Karl/Cassandra relationship, the love affair, and it just felt that was what we were following over the course of the season.”

Weir continued, “And given what they overcame over the course of the season, and the discovery, the mutual realization, that they’re simply stronger together, we just thought this would be the note to leave the season on, just their step towards making a different kind of commitment to one another.”

He also revealed that the creative team had tried many variations of the ending to find the right one. Weir shared, “So we went through a lot of discussing as to what felt right for the characters and what felt right for the moment. It’s the ultimate commitment.”

The series creator further added,”I think she’s ready to spend the rest of her life with him. Whether or not that actually involves picturing herself walking down an aisle just yet is another question. But yeah, I think she’s there with him.”

Weird also noted how Cassandra always has her guard up, but she might be willing to let it down for Karl now.
