The Pentaverate

Mandatory Trailers: Mike Meyers Finally Returns in Many Forms For Conspiracy Comedy Series ‘The Pentaverate’

Folks, Mike Meyers has returned to comedy, and boy does it feel good. That’s right, after a 14-year hiatus, the main creative force behind Austin Powers and Wayne’s World is back at it again. This time, however, Meyers is upping the ante with 8 different roes in his first Netflix series, The Pentaverate.

For those who are unaware, The Pentaverate asks a simple question — What if a secret society of five men has been working to influence world events since the Black Plague of 1347? That’s the basic premise of the new series, which follows a Canadian journalist (also played by Meyers) as he finds himself on a mission to uncover the truth. Check out the first trailer for The Pentaverate below:

For those who are unaware, Meyers has basically been in writer jail for the past decade due to the abomination that is The Love Guru. While Meyers has been keeping busy with acting and hosting (Most people don’t realize he hosted 20 episodes of The Gong Show), The Pentaverate seems like a return to form. Interestingly enough, Meyers’ new series is technically considered a spin-off of his 1993 film, So I Married an Axe Murderer, in which the pentaverate was first mentioned.

Aside from the Meyers’ undeniable presence, the series also features a good supporting cast, including Ken Jeong, Keegan-Michael Key, Debi Mazar, Richard McCabe, Jennifer Saunders, and Lydia West. Suffice to say, the series has the potential to be very funny, or completely waste the talent of the supporting players. Let’s just hope that we’re not gonna get another Love Guru this time around to the Mike Meyers-assance can begin. Until then, the 6 episode series drops on Netflix on May 5, 2022.
