WGN America Puts Jason Aaron’s Scalped In Development

Last year, WGN America was reportedly one of the networks attempting to land the four Marvel original live action series that ended up going to Netflix. But ahead of the premiere of the network’s first scripted drama, “Salem,” WGN America is taking another stab at a comic book adaptation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, WGN America has picked up the TV rights for the Vertigo comic book series Scalped, which was created by Jason Aaron and R.M. Guera. First published in 2007, the 60 issue Scalped series followed Dashiell Bad Horse, an undercover FBI agent who was sent to infiltrate the criminal underworld of the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation and bring down its leader, Lincoln Red Crow.

“Scalped” is the latest success of DC Entertainment’s television division, which has managed to set up “Gotham” at Fox, “The Flash” and “iZombie” at The CW, “Constantine” at NBC and “Preacher” at AMC within the past calendar year.

However, Scalped doesn’t currently have a pilot order in place or an announced creative team to handle the adaptation for WGN America.
