Kanye Finishing Work on New Album, Summer Release Expected

Put this in your April Fools’ pipe and smoke it: Surprisingly enough, Kanye West is doing more than shopping for ass-tarps for his wife’s wedding dress these days. The Bonnaroo headliner is reportedly finishing work on a new album, the follow-up to last year’s hyper-egomaniacal Yeezus.

West was scheduled to head to Australia in May with his Yeezus tour, but as the Sydney Morning Herald reports, the dates have been rescheduled for September. In a statement, Live Nation Australia blames the change of plans on “unexpected timing requirements to finish his highly anticipated new studio album, scheduled for a 2014 release.”

Nothing like a side-note in an international press release to announce a new album, eh? Kanye has teased that the new album would be Born In The U.S.A. to Yeezus’ Nebraska. Then again, he also claims to have singlehandedly taken violence out of rap music.

So far that’s just about all we know, aside from the fact that Live Nation even went so far as to reassure readers via Twitter that “this is definitely not an April Fools joke.”

What rhymes with croissant?
