Titanfall Season Pass Announced, Free Updates and Paid DLC Coming

Titanfall will be supported post-launch with content releases, both free and at a cost. In an effort to provide savings, and keep players invested, Respawn Entertainment has announced a Season Pass for the title.

Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella confirmed the existence of a Titanfall Season Pass when speaking with GameSpot:

We’re going to do paid DLC, we’re also going to do free updates. There are things that we want in the game that we didn’t get to ship in the final game. So we’ll add private matches and things like that for free. There will be some paid DLC. We’re going to do a season pass just because if you buy it up front, it’s a deal. We’re not going to do microtransactions. So a season pass is just buy it up front, and you get a better price.

While the season pass may come off as cash grab, the way Zampella describes it makes it look like a good option for those who know they’ll play the game beyond the first month. Respawn already has DLC in development which is rumored to include maps, new burn cards, and even the potential for a new Titan class. If you enjoy the game enough and are expecting to be interested in each of these DLC releases, you’ll save money in the long-run by investing in the Season Pass before buying any standalone DLC.

The price of the Season Pass hasn’t been announced, but its competition has stuck to the $49.99 mark. However, those offerings are more intrusive, so I’d expect to see Titanfall‘s Season Pass around the $24.99 price point.
