Mad Max Shows Its First Gameplay Image, Trailer Coming on Monday

Above is the very first in-game screenshot of Mad Max ever released. Previously, only a trailer had been shown and it was composed entirely of CGI leaving fans of the film series wondering how its transition to the virtual world would look. Well, it looks just about how you’d expect it to: full of unforgiving desert.

Mad Max is being developed by Avalanche Studios, the company responsible for the Just Cause franchise. It has extensive experience in open-world games and wants to apply that to the dystopian world that Mel Gibson brought to life in the late 70s. While Gibson won’t voice the main character, the game is said to retain many of the qualities that made the Mad Max films cult classics.

As seen in the image, on Monday, July 15th a gameplay video will be released. Expect it to look mighty good since this is the development team’s first time developing on next-gen hardware (although Xbox 360 and PS3 will be supported). We’ll be posting it as soon as it’s available.
