Goldblum In Talks With Emmerich To Reprise Role For Independence Day 2

Well, this makes number two.

Jeff Goldblum is the second actor from the first Independence Day film that has spoken with director Roland Emmerich; he’s looking to take up his role (IT expert David Levinson) once again in the upcoming Independence Day 2. The first one to respond positively and board the ship was Bill Pullman. If you don’t remember him, he was President Thomas Whitmore. Presumably he’d be a former president in this follow-up movie.

While there’s not an official script yet, there are two versions being worked on, one with Will Smith’s character, and one without. Mr. Smith has declined to be a part of the new film, so keeping his character without him being the one to play it would be a risky move.
