Guy’d to Tartar – A Meaty Barbecue Alternative Recipe

OK, it’s a pretty obvious way to keep a crowd happy, but we’ve got a slightly more sophisticated secret weapon for your culinary arsenal. This beef tartar dish with soya and sesame is dead easy, and much more exotic than yet another burger.

The recipe comes from the 5-star Shanti Maurice resort on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius, where Executive Chef Willibald Reinbacher is the master of light, flavorful and well-spiced recipes.

Beef Tartar with Soya and Sesame

Ingredients (Makes four.):

  • 300 g finely diced Beef Tenderloin
  • 2 tsp chopped scallions
  • 5 tbsp (45 g) soya sauce
  • 3 tbsp (45 g) ketchup
  • 1 tbsp (15 g) sesame oil
  • 1tbsp (15g) Dijon Mustard

PreparationCombine all ingredients and adjust seasoning.

To Garnish:

  • 1 half soft boiled egg
  • Tossed Sesame seeds
  • Small croutons
