Justin Timberlake may soon revisit some of the most talked-about moments of his career. A reported Apple TV+ docuseries could bring past controversies involving Janet Jackson and Britney Spears back into the news.
According to Variety, the Alpha Dog star is preparing a four-part docuseries for Apple TV, reportedly scheduled to arrive in December 2026. Three sources confirmed the project to the publication, which described it as a “tell-all.” However, Apple and representatives for Timberlake and Jackson have not confirmed the details.
One source told the publication that Jackson will discuss the infamous 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance. Another source claimed Timberlake will address recent comments made by his former girlfriend, Spears, in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me. The series will be directed by Fisher Stevens, known for his work on Netflix’s Beckham, although an official title and release date remain unconfirmed.
The project comes during a quieter period for Timberlake. His latest studio album, Everything I Thought It Was, arrived in March 2024, followed by the Forget Tomorrow World Tour. He also has a previous connection with Apple TV through the 2021 film Palmer.
The 2004 Super Bowl halftime show controversy that still follows Justin Timberlake
The 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance remains a major moment in Timberlake’s career. On February 1, he performed alongside Jackson during the halftime show. Near the end of their duet, Timberlake pulled away part of her bustier, exposing her breast on live television in an event widely labeled a “wardrobe malfunction.”
The broadcast triggered hundreds of thousands of viewer complaints and an investigation by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The agency initially fined CBS $550,000 over the incident. However, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals later overturned the penalty, ruling that the FCC had acted arbitrarily.
Jackson faced much of the public backlash following the performance. Timberlake, meanwhile, continued his music career. In 2021, he publicly apologized to both Jackson and Spears for his past actions. He also acknowledged benefiting from a system that tolerated misogyny and racism.
Timberlake’s 2024 arrest could also feature in the docuseries. Police arrested him in Sag Harbor, New York, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He later pleaded guilty to a lesser traffic violation. The incident took place shortly before his world tour began.
In July 2025, Timberlake publicly revealed a Lyme disease diagnosis, noting that the condition impacted him during his world tour. Whether the upcoming docuseries directly addresses his health battles or recent legal scrutiny remains unverified.
