An insider claims Riri Williams might not be done with the MCU just yet. Her show, Ironheart, introduced some of Marvel’s biggest players. This included the long-rumored Mephisto, played by Sacha Baron Cohen.
As revealed in a Discord Q&A with industry insider Alex Perez, Williams will likely make another appearance in the MCU. While fans have interpreted this as Ironheart getting a second season, Perez’s answer, unsubstantiated by any official announcement, could mean something entirely different.
Perez was asked whether other characters introduced in the show would appear in the future. He singled out Riri as a character who will return, though that doesn’t necessarily mean Ironheart will get a second season. Currently, in the MCU, Kamala Khan is recruiting her own team of young heroes, which might form the Young Avengers in the future.
Similarly, the character could appear in Avengers: Doomsday only to be killed off, with multiple sources describing the film as a bloodbath.
What happened in the first season of Ironheart?
Ironheart, billed as a miniseries, follows Riri Williams after her encounter with the Wakandans in Black Panther II. When the mysterious enters her life, she becomes entangled in a fight that pits technology against magic. What begins as a seemingly benevolent heist soon becomes a race to keep dark magic from infiltrating the world. The show also explores Williams’ grief, echoing some of the same beats as WandaVision.
The show’s biggest reveal came in the final episode with the introduction of Mephisto. The character has been rumored to be part of the MCU since WandaVision, with fans scrutinizing every subsequent series in hopes of finding the extra-dimensional demon.
Marvel has confirmed that Ryan Gosling will appear as the MCU’s version of Ghost Rider in 2028. It’s also when a Midnight Sons project is rumored to make landfall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
