Savannah Guthrie Makes Emotional Plea for Missing Mom After Allison Janney’s Emmy Comments

Savannah Guthrie used a broadcast segment on Today to renew her family’s urgent public plea for information regarding her missing mom, Nancy Guthrie, following supportive comments from Allison Janney backstage at the 2026 Emmy Awards.

During the September 15 episode broadcast of NBC’s Today show, co-host Willie Geist highlighted the backstage interview with Allison Janney after winning her eighth Emmy. After seeing her comments, Guthrie said she was “touched” by Janney’s words. “It was her moment of her triumph and for her to sit and take a moment and think about our family.”

The 54-year-old journalist later used the moment to renew her family’s call for information. “I never let a moment pass, if I get one, to talk about my mom and how much we miss her and love her,” Savannah said. “We’re in such pain. We need help.”

Savannah concluded her statement by saying, “We just want our mom home, give her a proper goodbye. That’s all.”

Backstage at the Emmys, reporters brought up Janney’s previous messages of concern for the Guthrie family. The 66-year-old actress emphasized that the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie remains heavy on her mind.
