Patton Oswalt, Tramell Tillman & More A-Listers Join Alexander Skarsgård Show in Huge Update

Alexander Skarsgård‘s acclaimed Apple sci-fi show got a casting update after a year-long wait. The new cast for Season 2 includes Patton Oswalt, Tramell Tillman, Wanda Sykes, and many more A-list stars. They will bring a mix of comedy, drama, and genre talent to the next chapter.

Apple TV shared a 42-second video on YouTube revealing the full Murderbot Season 2 cast. Although Apple renewed the show for a second season back in July 2025, there hasn’t been a single update since.

The new video features headshots of the Season 2 cast, displayed on a wall. Apple has not shared any further details about the upcoming season yet, but the cast reveal gives fans a fresh reason to look forward to the show’s return.

Meet the new recurring and guest stars joining Murderbot Season 2

Alexander Skarsgård reprises his titular role as Murderbot, while Nora Dumezweni returns as Mensah and David Dastmalchian as Gurathin. Other returning cast members are Akshay Khanna as Ratthi, Tamara Podemski as Bharadwaj, Sabrina Wu as Pin-Lee, and Tattiawna Jones as Arada.

The recurring cast of the fictional show The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon will also return. John Cho, DeWanda Wise, Jack McBrayer, and Clark Gregg are all reprising their respective roles.

The Murderbot Season 2 cast will see a star-studded list of fresh additions joining the sci-fi comedy drama. Along with Oswalt, Tillman, and Sykes, the expanding lineup includes Steve Buscemi, Michael Sheen, Topher Grace, Nicholas Braun, Katy O’Brian, and Blair Underwood. The rest of the names include Kali Reiss, Griffin Newman, Jason George, Brendan Hunt, Britne Oldford, Bridget Everett, Martha Plimpton, Damian Young, Divian Ladwa, Ella Jay Basco, Etienne Beydon, Maddy Strauss, Marc Menchaca, and Meredith Salenger. Jaedynn Latter and Nia Otchere-Sarfo round out the new cast members.

Murderbot adapts All Systems Red, the first book of Martha Wells’ The Murderbot Diaries. The story follows a self-aware security construct, Murderbot, which secretly gains free will while protecting humans on dangerous missions.

The first season was well received by critics. The season currently holds a 95% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. Murderbot Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
