Netflix released the official trailer for its upcoming coming-of-age sports drama Crew Girl on August 12, 2026. The coming-of-age teen drama stars a Star Trek: Section 31 actor in the lead role, who joins an all-boys rowing team at an elite prep school.
Miku Martineau plays the role of protagonist Teagan Tao. The trailer for the series delves into how the character of Tao figures out life after joining prestigious Easton Prep. The trailer opens with how a family crisis disrupts Tao’s life, forcing her to move away with her mother.
After relocating, Tao joins the school where she is surprised to hear that there is no all-girls rowing team in the organization. She figures out that the only way to be in the rowing team is to face Easton’s famously unruly boys’ varsity rowing team and take charge as the coxswain.
The synopsis of the series reads, per The Hollywood Reporter, “Sixteen-year-old Teagan Tao (Martineau) was a rising star in single sculls rowing until a family scandal capsized her future. Forced to relocate with her mom (Jessica Paré) to the east coast, Teagan starts over at the prestigious Easton Prep, where she’s not just an outcast but stuck a ground, [as] there’s no girls’ rowing team. Her only way to the water is to take the helm of the school’s notoriously dysfunctional boys’ varsity crew as their coxswain.”
The synopsis further reads, “Thrust into a world of old money and brutal competition, Teagan must find a way to lead a team that doesn’t want her and somehow bring them together. As she juggles her own rowing ambitions, the demands of the boys’ crew, and her family’s escalating complications, she also finds herself unexpectedly caught in the orbit of the team’s two most competitive rivals: the arrogant team captain, Josh Regis (Sam Braun), and the quiet but intensely driven underdog, Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark).”
