Following a massive, record-breaking debut, the popular Peacock TV series The Five-Star Weekend has been renewed for Season 2. Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s 2023 novel of the same name, the show was originally released as a limited series.
The Five Star Weekend, led by Jennifer Garner, has been confirmed for Season 2 following its growing viewership since its premiere, reports Variety. The show was launched on July 9, 2026 and has already become Peacock’s most-watched scripted TV series of all time.
The Five Star Weekend has been watched for 1.8 billion minutes, according to Peacock. Plus, it also earned a place in Nielsen’s chart for the top five streaming original series in its first two weeks. Besides Garner, the cast also includes other notable members such as D’Arcy Carden, Gemma Chan, Regina Hall, Chloë Sevigny, Harlow Jane, and Timothy Olyphant.
What was the first season of Peacock’s The Five Star Weekend about?
Season 1 of The Five Star Weekend followed Hollis Shaw, played by Garner, who is a famous food influencer and author, grieving her late husband.
The official synopsis for the TV series reads, “In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life—childhood, college, motherhood—and one surprise guest. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the five ‘stars’ will develop in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.”
The Five Star Weekend has been created by Bekah Brunstetter. Although the project was termed a limited series in the beginning, Brunstetter did want to expand the story. Now that it’s renewed for a second season, the opportunities are endless.
“Audiences have completely embraced this wholly relatable story of friendship, and what it means to reconnect with the people in your life who truly make a difference,” Lisa Katz, President, Scripted Content, NBC & Peacock, told The Hollywood Reporter. “A huge thank you to our amazing cast, writers, directors, producers and to our magical crew who all worked tirelessly to bring Elin’s enormously popular book to the screen, and to the audiences who enjoyed watching this summer escape as much as we enjoyed making it.”
Besides attracting record viewership on Peacock, The Five Star Weekend also boosted Elin Hilderbrand’s book sales. The novel recently entered the Top 10 of the New York Times bestseller list, thanks to the TV show’s success.
The TV series is executive produced by Bekah Brunstetter, Sue Naegle, Ali Krug, Minkie Spiro, Jennifer Garner, Merri Howard, Beth Schacter, and Elin Hilderbrand.
The Five Star Weekend Season 2 has yet to receive an official release window.
