‘I Misread the Email’: New Girl Fans Get Devastating Reunion Update After Viral Comments

New Girl star Max Greenfield has left fans disappointed with a new reunion statement. The actor had previously given an encouraging update on the project but now appears to be walking back his remark.

During a July 31 appearance on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, Greenfield teased a potential New Girl reunion. “As far as I know, it’s happening,” the actor said, citing the project. He further stated that New Girl creator Elizabeth Meriwether has already written it. “I’ve seen scripts, she’s written them; they’re amazing. She’s a very talented writer,” he added.

However, the American actor has now retracted his previous comment. In a new interview with Variety this week, he said, “I misread the email.” He added, “Or should I say, I just read the subject, which read, ‘New Girl reunion.’”

Addressing the contradiction, Greenfield confessed that it is not the first time he has done this. “I’m still a work in progress,” he said. “I can only hope this little mix-up doesn’t dim the light we’re trying to shine on such an incredible organization.”

Meanwhile, fans speculate that Greenfield is walking back on his previous confirmation because he might have gotten in trouble for disclosing something he shouldn’t have. The actor is thus having to say that he has no clue about the project as damage control. For now, there has been no official update about the New Girl reunion project.

The New Girl cast is reuniting for a new project, but not what fans think

While the New Girl cast may not reunite on screen just yet, the stars are all set to come together at the upcoming Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Los Angeles. The show’s cast members Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris, Hannah Simone and Damon Wayans Jr. will receive the Rising Phoenix Award. Greenfield will host the ceremony on October 10, which will also honor Banc of California chairman and CEO Jared Wolff with the Corporate Trailblazer Award.

In a recent statement, Mark Loranger, president and CEO of Chrysalis, said, “This year’s honorees reflect the resilience and second chances at the heart of Chrysalis’ work.” He added, “Jared, through his leadership at Banc of California, has invested in Los Angeles where our clients are doing the same, and New Girl built seven seasons around characters navigating through life changes and starting over”
