Paramount+ has granted an early Season 2 renewal to one of its newest TV shows. This comes ahead of the Western drama’s Season 1 finale premiering next week on July 3.
What Paramount+ TV show has been renewed for a second season?
Paramount+ has announced that its latest Yellowstone spin-off, Dutton Ranch, will be coming back for a second season. This isn’t surprising given how successful the Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser-led show has been since its premiere. So far, the show has received a Fresh score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
According to the streamer, the debut episode garnered 12.9 million viewers globally during its first week, making it the biggest Original Series launch in Paramount+ history. In addition, the series also had 2.9 million total viewers during its two-episode debut on Paramount Network on May 15, making it the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023. With 1.85 million viewers for the premiere telecast alone, Dutton Ranch also ranked as the #1 cable entertainment telecast among both adults 18-49 and total viewers. It also became the number 1 streaming series for the week of May 11, based on Nielsen’s average audience preliminary data.
“Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history, and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world,” Paramount+ executive Jane Wiseman said in a statement. “We’re also incredibly grateful to our partners, including the teams at Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for bringing this new series to life with such grit, heart, and authenticity.
Dutton Ranch is created and executive-produced by showrunner Chad Feehan, based on the characters created by executive producers Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. The spin-off also stars Ed Harris, Annette Bening, Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind. Executive producers are David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Reilly, Hauser, and Keith Cox.
“As Beth and Rip fight to build a future together – far from the ghosts of Yellowstone – they collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire. In South Texas, blood runs deeper, forgiveness is fleeting, and the cost of survival might just be your soul,” reads the Season 1 synopsis.
