Kate Middleton reportedly can’t afford any slip-ups in her public role right now. According to an etiquette expert, the Princess of Wales has learned to adhere to royal protocol. It’s reported that millions of eyes seemingly watch her every move. However, the expert claims it wasn’t always this way.
Kate Middleton can’t ‘make faux pas because it’s not good for business right now,’ per expert
An etiquette expert says royal rules are taught, and deportment is the hardest to master, per HELLO!. Laura Windsor, founder of the Laura Windsor Etiquette Academy, told the outlet that Kate Middleton is now a “walking symbol of elegance.” Windsor, known as the Queen of Etiquette, claimed that this wasn’t always the case. She said that there were photos in the past of Kate scratching her head, putting her hands in places she shouldn’t, and coming down stairs very inelegantly.
Windsor claimed that Kate now always keeps her hands at waist height, with one hand cupped in front of the other. She also said that Kate walks straight, with her shoulders back and her rib cage up. “That’s something that she’s had to learn,” the expert said. She added that she sometimes shows photos of Kate’s earlier days when teaching royal etiquette, calling them “astounding.”
According to Windsor, deportment is the hardest rule for someone joining the royal family to follow. She said that you may follow “every rule in the book,” but looking inelegant won’t convince people. She added that movements have to be restrained, as if you’re “gliding like a swan.”
Furthermore, Windsor said that the rules are taught rather than simply expected to be understood. She claimed that Kate has realized she “can’t really afford to make faux pas” because it’s “not good for business right now.” According to the expert, there are millions of eyes on the Princess, so she has to adhere properly. “We can’t afford to have gossip and mistakes right now,” she added.
Meanwhile, Windsor observed that royal etiquette now looks natural for Kate, as if she’s been in the royal family forever. In her opinion, Meghan “has no idea about decorum.”
