A familiar face from weekday mornings is taking on a bigger role at NBC’s TODAY. The network is adding another day to one of its longtime hosts’ schedules, giving viewers more chances to catch him on the morning show. He will join the weekend team while keeping his other major television commitments.
Carson Daly will be the co-anchor on Saturday Today
Carson Daly will make his debut as co-anchor of Saturday TODAY alongside Laura Jarrett on Nov. 7. Feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman will also be part of the broadcast. Matt Carluccio serves as executive producer of the weekend programs, which air Saturday mornings on NBC (via NBC).
The expanded lineup gives Daly a Saturday slot while keeping him on TODAY throughout the workweek. The shake-up now puts him on the morning show six days a week. He will also continue leading The Voice, serving as its host and executive producer since the NBC competition debuted in 2011. Daly additionally executive produces The Voice: Celebrity.
Daly first stepped into the TODAY spotlight in 2013, taking charge of the Orange Room, where the show covered digital trends and social media buzz. He later made Pop Start his own, bringing viewers the latest from entertainment and pop culture.
His interview list has since stretched across music, sports, politics and medicine, with everyday heroes also getting their moment in the hot seat. Beyond television, Daly champions mental health awareness and holds a board position at nonprofit Project Healthy Minds.
Libby Leist, TODAY’s executive vice president, credited Daly with becoming a key part of the TODAY crew over the past 13 years. She also gave props to his chemistry with Jarrett and said the team couldn’t wait to kick off this next phase.
“Carson and Laura make a great team, and we can’t wait for this fresh new chapter of Saturday TODAY.” Daly was just as pumped saying, “I’m equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity.”
