Meghan Markle’s ‘Low-Profile’ Stance Might Backfire Amid Family Turmoil — Report

A royal expert has reportedly shared her view on how Meghan Markle is handling a difficult time. The Duchess of Sussex is dealing with unproven allegations about her father, Thomas Markle Sr., which he denies. According to the expert, Meghan has little choice but to continue with her work. Meghan has also issued a statement on the matter.

Expert advises Meghan Markle to ‘carry on’ with her life amid dad’s controversy

Royal editor Emily Nash discussed the situation on HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast. She explained that the Duchess of Sussex “doesn’t have any option other than to carry on.” Nash noted that Meghan is continuing to build her business and expand her media projects, which makes retreating into a prolonged low-profile stance counterproductive to her professional commitments.

Nash called it a “really, really awful situation.” However, she thinks that having the distraction of work, the children, and her projects is “probably a good thing.” For context, Thomas Markle Jr. made unproven allegations against his father, which Philippine authorities are investigating. Markle Sr. denies them, calling the accusations “sick lies.” No criminal charges have been filed.

In a statement, Meghan said she is “deeply distressed” and that her thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed. She said that a letter sent to Scotland Yard in 2018 contained “disturbing allegations” about her father. Meghan was assured that they were being investigated. She also said that any distance from her father, and her choice not to allow him contact with their children, “was for one reason: to protect them.”

Meanwhile, it’s understood that Meghan will continue with her planned work schedule. She was announced as a judge on Australia’s Junior MasterChef. “It was an easy yes,” she said in a statement.

She also plans to expand her brand, ‘As Ever’, to the UK. Recently, she met campaigner Malala Yousafzai and announced that As ever’s jams and teas would support the Malala Fund on the International Day of the Girl. Her first official public appearance in the UK so far was a day of charity engagements in Nottingham with Prince Harry in October.
