Paw Patrol 4 confirms its director and release window for the next animated adventure

A new Paw Patrol movie is in the works following the massive success of its predecessors. Cal Brunker, who co-wrote and directed the three movies, is returning to helm the new feature and pen its script with Bob Barlen. According to Deadline, the movie is eyeing a 2029 debut through Paramount.

This comes after the remarkable box office performances of 2021’s Paw Patrol: The Movie, 2023’s Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie, and 2026’s Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie. Together, they made over half a billion dollars globally. The films have also been successful with critics. The first has an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while The Mighty Movie and The Dino Movie have 71% and 83% scores, respectively.

Vishnu Athreya, the EVP and President of Spin Master Entertainment (the production company behind the franchise), detailed their plans. “Paw Patrol is a global entertainment phenomenon, and we’re investing in the franchise to give fans more of what they love,” Athreya noted. “Looking to the future, we want to further expand the PAW Patrol universe through movies, series, specials, short-form video and connected play to bring joy to the next generation of kids wherever they are. There are endless storytelling possibilities — this is just the beginning.”

Meanwhile, Paramount Animation’s president, Jennifer Dodge, underscored what they intend to achieve with Paw Patrol 4. “Paw Patrol has a special place in the hearts of families around the world,” Dodge explained. “We’re thrilled to continue the pups’ journey on the big screen. Together, with our partners at Spin Master, we’re excited to bring audiences another adventure that’s made for the theatrical experience.”

Notably, Paw Patrol originated as a franchise with a Nickelodeon series that has been airing since 2013. Keith Chapman created Paw Patrol, and Scott Kraft developed it.
