Billy Evans Showed You Can See Everything Directors Videos of Elizabeth Holmes Crying Before Filming

Billy Evans reportedly showed the You Can See Everything directors clips of Elizabeth Holmes crying. Apparently, before the shoot started on this meta-documentary film, Evans wanted to share some behind-the-scenes moments with directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oppenheim shared, “Before we started shooting, Billy showed us a video — because he would sometimes video things on his phone, like just of him and Elizabeth on a couch.”

He continued, “He’d be like, ‘Look at this moment.’ It’d be a video of Elizabeth crying, and he’s like, ‘We just watched Pride and Prejudice. This is so good.’ I’m just like, ‘Are these the type of moments that you are interested in having us show? What do you want us to see? What is the object of your guys’ inquiry with this?’”

You Can See Everything follows Holmes, the founder of the defunct health technology company Theranos, and her partner Evans. They invited a film crew to document them, starting from the weeks before Holmes began serving a United States federal prison sentence for defrauding investors.

How bizarre moments on set shaped Nathan Fielder’s filming experience

While working on the meta-documentary, Nathan Fielder shared that there were quite a few “bizarre moments” on set that shaped the directors’ filming experience.

“There were so many things that we were tracking all at once. Sometimes these little moments would sit in your mind for a bit, but we were there constantly for a month, so some we would sort of forget about — and then be reminded when we reviewed the footage in the edit,” Fielder confided to THR.

He continued, “That ‘who’s on first’ moment, everyone was like, ‘What was that?’ We knew these moments that we couldn’t make sense of were interesting because we would talk about them a lot. It’s hard because you’re just there and you’re observing, and you can’t cultivate anything. You can’t make anything happen. You’re just documenting.”

Lance Oppenheim added to that, sharing, “There are also so many moments in this where Nathan would be like, ‘I think you’re guilty. Why are we here? Do you want us to leave?’ And they’d be like, ‘No, no, stay.’”

You Can See Everything premiered as a secret screening at the 53rd Telluride Film Festival on September 6, 2026, and was theatrically released by A24 on October 16. You can catch the movie in theaters now.
