Prince William Was So Relaxed on TV, Expert ‘Forgot’ He’ll Be King

Prince William recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show to mark the Earthshot Prize. For the episode, he was joined by Robert Irwin, Cate Blanchett, and Hannah Waddingham. The episode opened to positive reactions, with an expert praising William’s sense of humor.

Why Alycia McNamara praised William’s humor with celebrity guests

Alycia McNamara praised Prince William’s nonchalant humor on Graham Norton’s chat show. She wrote a detailed article on Express. “No other royal has ever shown the down-to-earth side of themselves as much as William did,” she said. McNamara continued, “The prince was cracking jokes and bantering with the other guests much like the celebs next to him. All the formalities were dropped and the prince seemingly acted how he might have been caught acting with his friends behind closed doors.”

The expert mentioned that William questioned how much he could say on national television, hinting that he had more to share than might be suitable for a future king to discuss on screen. McNamara added that the Prince of Wales did a great job of making everyone comfortable and “acted just like anybody else.” She also said Kate Middleton and King Charles “will have been overjoyed with how William handled his time on the show – a roaring success.” Moreover, McNamara wrote that she would like to see William doing this more often because he is a natural.

McNamara added that “it’s very entertaining to see the next generation of the monarchy being so relaxed.” When William first joined the sofa, he was asked what he should be called. The prince reportedly replied, “Oh, anything,” while smiling throughout the exchange. McNamara also noted that William had viewers giggling at home. Looking at the comments on Norton’s Instagram post, she observed that viewers praised William for reminding them of his mother, Princess Diana, as well as for his sense of humour and humility. She concluded that he had done “a truly brilliant job.”
