A royal expert has reportedly stated that Meghan Markle’s acting ambitions have hit a new roadblock. This comes as Netflix’s “safety net” disappears, according to the news update. For those unversed, several news reports indicated that Markle was in talks to join Guy Ritchie’s acclaimed series The Gentlemen. However, this was categorically refuted by cast members during media appearances. Additionally, with major structural changes at Netflix, Markle’s acting comeback with the streaming platform is in jeopardy.
Expert claims Meghan Markle’s plan to make a comeback is in jeopardy after Netflix backing exits
British broadcaster Helena Chard dished to Fox News Digital that Meghan Markle’s acting plans with Netflix now seem uncertain. Chard explained that Bela Bajaria was the Sussexes’ greatest cheerleader inside Netflix. Now, with her reported departure from the streaming service, Markle’s safety net is gone. Chard explained how it would be tough for the Duchess to bag a top acting role. The royal expert added that the odds are stacked against her.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield added to the chatter and accused Markle’s team of publicly criticizing Netflix. Schofield explained that the streaming platform has partnered with the Sussexes on some of their most important endeavors in the past, and the Duchess ought to be careful with her words.
“To me, this is the clearest indication yet that their relationship with Netflix has effectively come to an end,” she added. Schofield further revealed that Netflix has already pulled out its investment in Markle’s lifestyle brand, As Ever. The royal expert even stated that the Duchess’ popular Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, was Bajaria’s idea.
After the media fiasco with the casting for The Gentlemen, Markle’s team accused Netflix of using her name for cheap publicity. A source dished to The Telegraph: “Some people in her camp feel she was used to help promote Season 2. Because they knew it wasn’t as good as the first season and had already commissioned a third.”
The source stated that ultimately Netflix got free publicity, which translated into huge viewership for the show. However, it left a bitter taste in Markle’s mouth.
