An ABC station in the Albany market is losing one of its newer reporters after only four months. He says a new opportunity convinced him to move on, and viewers have just a few days left to see him on air.
Alex Berger is leaving News10 ABC
Alex Berger will sign off from WTEN-Channel 10 on November 3, closing a brief run at the ABC affiliate. He announced the decision in a Facebook post, explaining that an offer came that he felt he had to accept. He has not said where he is going. In his farewell note, Berger described his months in the Capital Region as a time of professional growth.
“In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve stepped completely out of my comfort zone and made sure the people who watch us every day have gotten the very best of me,” the reporter wrote. He also thanked News10ABC managers and colleagues for their support. He said he plans to keep his attention on serving viewers until his last day. On his next job, he left fans with a teaser: “As for where I’m headed next, stay tuned …”
Berger’s departure is the latest in a year of newsroom changes across the Capital Region. On-air exits have been far fewer than in earlier years, however. WTEN evening anchor K.C. Kantz said in March that he would leave at the end of May. Kantz joined News10ABC in 2023 in his first evening anchor job and has since relocated to Rhode Island (via Times Union).
Political reporter Jamie DeLine also left WTEN this year after seven years in the area. She and her husband, former WNYT meteorologist Reid Kisselback, moved to Raleigh, N.C., as they prepared for the birth of their first child.
Anthony Krolikowski, who came to WTEN in 2022, has announced his own exit as well. He is heading to CBS6 Albany to anchor weekend evenings and report. For now, Berger remains on the air at News10ABC through November 3.
