Prince Harry is reportedly attempting to orchestrate a reunion with King Charles following his return to the UK. However, sources claim a palace power shift is underway following the monarch’s warm praise for Prince William during a recent royal banquet. Compounding the Duke of Sussex’s isolation, a reported pivot by his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, could further sideline him from the family fold.
Sources reveal how Prince Harry’s hope for reconciliation is getting difficult
According to Woman’s Day, Prince Harry’s reunion plans might not work out with King Charles leaning to Prince William. During a recent state banquet, the monarch highlighted his pride in his eldest son. “Your Majesty, there can be few happier symbols of success than a living relationship being passed from one generation to the next,” Charles told the Sultan of Oman. Insiders told the outlet that a noticeable “power shift” is taking hold within the palace.
“It’s very clear at this point that William’s stock has never been higher,” an insider said. The King “appears to be paving the way for him to take the reins sooner rather than later.” The insider continued, “The banquet speech was a clear statement that the Waleses represent the future of the monarchy and that they will have the King’s full and unconditional blessing when they do take the Crown.” However, it is “not to say that Charles is looking to abdicate imminently – at least, not that anyone is aware.”
The insider added that Charles wants William to be fully prepared to step up, noting that “in the meantime he’s very much His Majesty’s right-hand man.” This perceived shift has not gone unnoticed by members of the royal family, including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Recognizing that “William holds all the aces,” the sisters reportedly feel it is imperative to align with the future king, leading them to quietly distance themselves from the Sussexes.
The source noted that the decision to create distance was made strictly from a “self-preservation standpoint,” adding that the York sisters are unlikely to change course anytime soon. The insider compared the palace atmosphere to the “Hunger Games,” with royals vying to stay in the Prince of Wales’ good graces.
