Taylor Swift may have turned a glamorous Academy Museum Gala appearance into an early Oscar campaign moment. The pop superstar performed for Hollywood power players, including Steven Spielberg, Charlize Theron, and Colman Domingo.
Taylor Swift charmed people who could ‘help make her an Academy Award winner,’ per source
As per Rob Shuter’s Substack, Swift impressed the room. “These people have Oscars, millions of dollars and enormous power,” one source said. The insider described them as “impossible to impress.”
However, Taylor Swift reportedly had attendees “desperate to meet her.” Another insider said she “worked that room like a master politician.” They described her as “gracious, charming” and said she “made everyone feel special.” Meanwhile, the October 17 Academy Museum Gala honored John Carpenter, Colman Domingo, and Charlize Theron.
Additionally, the singer performed “I Knew It, I Knew You,” her original song from “Toy Story 5.” She also performed “Blank Space,” “Love Story,” and “The Fate of Ophelia.” Still, Shuter’s source focused heavily on what happened away from the stage.
“By the end of the night, Hollywood was eating out of her hand,” the insider claimed. The report also said Swift bought her own ticket and performed without a fee. “She didn’t demand a paycheck or special treatment,” another source said. Instead, the insider believed she “understood the value of being there.”
Meanwhile, the source connected that goodwill directly to possible Academy recognition. “Oscar campaigns are about goodwill,” the insider said. They claimed Taylor Swift had “charmed the very people” who could help her become “an Academy Award winner.”
Still, no Oscar nomination had been announced. The Academy scheduled nominations for January 21, 2027, with the ceremony set for March 14.
For now, the Oscar talk centered on her “Toy Story 5” track and industry visibility. The Museum Gala positioned Swift before major filmmakers and performers as awards season progressed.
