Prince Harry and King Charles are reportedly making progress in repairing their relationship. Although Harry and his father have not met in person since his return to the U.K., they reportedly speak regularly by phone. The reported increase in contact comes as the King continues his cancer treatment.
Expert claims Prince Harry hasn’t met King Charles but are still talking on calls
Prince Harry and King Charles have reportedly been talking frequently despite not seeing each other in person. Sources say the Duke of Sussex returned to the U.K. partly to spend more time with his father.
According to The Sunday Times‘ royal editor Roya Nikkhah, Harry and the King have been speaking on the phone “a fair amount.” Nikkhah claimed their relationship has been improving, even though they have not managed to have another face-to-face meeting.
She also noted that King Charles has spent much of his time in Scotland while continuing treatment for cancer. Although the monarch has returned south on several occasions, he and Harry have reportedly not been able to meet since July.
Nikkhah suggested Harry’s relationship with his father is moving in a positive direction. However, she noted that he has not maintained similar ties with the wider Royal Family.
The royal expert claimed Harry has not met any other senior royals since relocating to Britain with Meghan Markle and their children in late August. She added that the couple has not been “welcomed back with arms wide open.”
The reported phone calls come amid ongoing efforts to rebuild family relationships after years of public tension. While Harry and Charles appear to be communicating more often, there is still no indication of when they might meet again in person.
Buckingham Palace has also maintained that Harry and Meghan remain non-working members of the Royal Family despite their move back to the U.K.
For now, the reported conversations suggest that father and son are keeping the lines of communication open. Even so, an in-person reunion between Harry and Charles has yet to happen.
