Donald Trump ‘Betrayed’ Ukraine Over Elon Musk’s Starlink, Zelenskyy Says

Zelenskyy just called out Donald Trump with one word no president wants to hear. The Ukrainian leader revealed how a sudden military tech restriction left his forces exposed during an ongoing war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Donald Trump betrayed Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Donald Trump of betraying Ukraine after SpaceX suddenly restricted Starlink satellite access, The Guardian reported. Zelenskyy, visiting London, told Piers Morgan that Trump picked the opposing side after four years of war. He said he felt personally let down by the U.S. president.

“It’s a pity that we are losing, we are losing a strong partner,” Zelenskyy said. Ukraine’s military reported that Starlink stopped functioning at speeds above 100mph at 1 a.m. without explanation. The restriction rendered most drones used behind frontlines inoperable.

“I am sure they knew what they did, absolutely,” Zelenskyy told Morgan. “This decision will bring a lot of human losses … of course, people will die.” The outage also affected air defense systems used against Russian jet-powered attack drones targeting Kyiv.

Serhiy Beskrestnov, a military technology adviser to Zelenskyy, confirmed the armed forces received no warning. “It’s clear that this action cannot be a coincidence and is connected to the current political situation,” he said. Shahed drone interception rates had already dropped from over 90% to around 60% after Russia upgraded engines.

Elon Musk denied responsibility for the decision. “Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government,” Musk said. He added that speed or usage limits are decided by the U.S. military and the president.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham met Zelenskyy at Downing Street and pledged continued support. “We are behind you and that will not change,” Burnham said. He promised to accelerate delivery of lightweight multi-role missiles to counter Russian drone strikes. Russia had launched 39 ballistic missiles and 120 attack drones against Ukrainian energy infrastructure overnight, leaving at least 600,000 people without power.
