Prince Harry’s One Question for Charles Spencer Before the Diana Book Revealed

Prince Harry’s single question to Charles Spencer ahead of the Diana book release has reportedly come to light. Princess Diana’s brother wrote the newly published memoir in honor of her upcoming 30th death anniversary. The 9th Earl Spencer has since revealed that he kept news of his book, “Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,” secret from almost everyone until shortly before its publication.

Here’s what Prince Harry asked Charles Spencer before the release of the Princess Diana book

Prince Harry reportedly approached his uncle Charles Spencer with a key question after hearing about his memoir on Princess Diana. While the Duke of Sussex was reportedly unbothered by the memoir’s release, he did ask his uncle if anything in it would cause him “embarrassment.”

During a recent interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King to promote his memoir, the Earl shared, “Harry was sort of like, ‘Is there anything in there that would be embarrassing to me?'” He went on to say that he had given the Duke assurances that nothing in the book would embarrass him, noting, “I said, ‘Absolutely not.’ You know, I’m very specific about people’s privacy.”

Charles Spencer further explained why he did not inform any family members until just before the public announcement. Princess Diana’s brother said that he wanted to prevent any speculation that Harry, who had spent the summer with him, had any involvement in the book. The remark indicates that the Duke was not aware of it during his stay in the UK with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children in early July.

According to the Daily Express, the non-working royal reportedly had no issue with his uncle’s book. The 42-year-old apparently felt unbothered by the book coming out just three years after his own memoir, “Spare.” Meanwhile, Prince William was said to be furious about the revelatory memoir.

As for its public reception, the memoir has emerged as the UK’s top-selling hardback non-fiction title of 2026, with 102,668 copies sold. The book contains startling allegations about King Charles following Princess Diana’s death, along with revelations concerning the royal family.
