Prince William was accused by a podcast host of pushing King Charles to issue a royal-status letter. The Prince of Wales was also described as determined to keep the Sussexes outside official royal duties. The Daily Express host claimed William “wants to destroy” the couple while discussing their titles and recent UK return. Those remarks remained opinion and source-based claims, not confirmed palace statements. Separately, the King’s letter formally reaffirmed their non-working royal status after the move.
Host claims Prince William was behind King Charles letter for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
As per the “Daily Expresso” episode, Dolan said sources claimed William was “effectively the author” of the letter. He said Prince William told Charles, “you must do this,” before the King acted. The host, JJ Anisiobi, described its message as, “Harry and Meghan Markle are not working royals.” They added, “They should not be treated as working royals.” Meanwhile, independent reporting confirmed the Lord Chamberlain issued guidance on Charles’ behalf. That guidance reaffirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remained outside the working royal structure.
Additionally, Anisiobi said William had been “very instrumental in getting that letter out.” He then claimed William “is not going to stop pushing” over the Sussexes’ titles. According to the discussion, the prince viewed the issue as “protecting the monarchy” and preventing “a colossal mistake.” Earlier, Anisiobi had opened with the stronger claim that William “wants to destroy Harry and Megan.” However, Dolan acknowledged removing titles could trigger another confrontation. He predicted the Sussexes would “weaponize” any such decision.
Later, co-host Anisiobi said Meghan Markle was “furious” about Prince William’s alleged role in the letter, and said sources claimed she had “no intention of allowing the palace to control her.” He added that Meghan was “going to fight back” and strengthen other royal relationships. Meanwhile, Dolan claimed “team Sussex, team Wales” had “never been further apart.” Still, no palace statement confirmed William personally authored or ordered the letter. Public reporting only established that Charles directed the guidance and the Lord Chamberlain issued it.
