Tucker Carlson recently claimed that Donald Trump blocked files related to convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein from being released to the public. Carlson, once a known Trump supporter, has now become one of his most vocal critics. One of the main reasons behind the political commentator choosing to leave Trump is the war between the US and Iran.
Tucker Carlson talks about Donald Trump and Epstein files
In a recent piece on Vice President JD Vance by Vanity Fair, political commentator Tucker Carlson suggested that Donald Trump tried to keep documents related to Jeffrey Epstein hidden from the public. Carlson stated that he was the one who pushed Trump in 2025 to release the Epstein files, but the President didn’t seem to agree with his strategy. He said that he confronted Trump on the issue of the files and said, “My position from the beginning with Trump, I said it to Trump, was, ‘I don’t understand why you would ever keep any of this stuff secret.’ And I got like a bunch of different answers.”
He added that he suggested the administration not keep the files concealed from the public. However, according to Carlson, in the end the instruction to keep the files under wraps came from none other than Trump. He stated, “The order to cover it up came from Trump. I asked him why. And he gave me this long, very emotional explanation that this was all a plot against him.”
Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law on November 19, 2025. The Justice Department later published nearly 3.5 million pages under the law, including documents gathered from multiple investigations involving Epstein. Trump’s name appears thousands of times in the released material, although appearing in the files does not by itself indicate criminal wrongdoing. Trump has denied wrongdoing connected to Epstein and has said he cut ties with him years before his arrest.
