Prince Harry’s first public appearance at the Invictus event since his return to the UK caught attention. According to a report, his eight-word comment while addressing the crowd raised eyebrows. Despite nearly facing an Invictus setback, he greeted his friends and supporters of the charitable event. Previously, Uganda, the country that participated for the first time, withdrew after King Charles’ letter. However, the monarch’s intervention changed the decision.
Prince Harry shares rare comment on his return to UK at Invictus event
Prince Harry shared his feelings on his return to the UK at the Invictus event. On September 17, he attended his first public event since the Sussexes moved back to Britain. It was the inaugural Invictus Spirit Gala Dinner and Awards in London. The Duke greeted everyone at the venue with a smile. When PEOPLE asked him how “things were going,” his rare eight-word comment drew attention. He said, “It’s good to be back on British soil.”
Back in 2020, Harry shocked his people when he decided to step back from royal duties with his wife, Meghan Markle. The Sussexes, along with their children, then moved to California, leaving royal life behind. As he adapted to American life, the Duke burned bridges with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, by slamming them in public. He criticized the royal lifestyle and his family in interviews, documentaries, and his memoir.
Therefore, the news of his return to the UK surprised everyone. However, the journey to settle back into his old lifestyle seemed to be a bit difficult. Immediately after the Sussexes’ return, the palace released a letter, on behalf of the King, announcing that Harry and Meghan would remain non-working royals. They referred to the Sussexes as “private citizens,” which didn’t sit well with the couple.
Reportedly, the letter led Uganda to withdraw from the Invictus Games. It was then said that Charles intervened to clear the air. However, his intervention might have put Harry in an awkward position.
