A friendly message in a parents’ WhatsApp group has reportedly turned into an unexpected privacy concern for Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex is said to have faced a security issue involving her phone number after a screenshot from the chat began circulating.
The Duchess’ personal mobile number was exposed after a parents’ chat screenshot spread
The reported Meghan Markle phone number leak occurred after the Duchess joined the school parents’ WhatsApp group. She created the account ahead of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s first day at their new UK school.
According to The Sun, Meghan was welcomed into the group by other parents. One message reportedly read, “Welcome to Meghan who has Archie joining tomo.” Another parent added, “Welcome!!” Meghan is said to have replied, “Hi moms! Thanks for the warm welcome (heart emoji) So happy to be a part of this community xx.”
The outlet reported that a screenshot of the conversation was later shared multiple times. As a result, Meghan’s personal mobile number was allegedly exposed, raising fresh security concerns.
The reported leak came shortly after Prince Harry and Meghan decided to withdraw Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, from the school just two days after classes began.
According to reports, the couple’s security team raised concerns about heavy traffic during school drop-off and pickup. Hence, the family’s security convoy sometimes took up to an hour to complete a journey expected to last around 35 minutes.
A source told the publication, “You can’t have a situation where the fifth, sixth and seventh in line to the throne are trapped in a car.” The report claimed that the children instead attend another nearby school that does not face the same traffic issues.
The developments come as Harry and Meghan are expected to receive their first government RAVEC security review since 2020. The Duke of Sussex has long argued for increased official security protection for his family while visiting the UK. His push follows their 2020 decision to step back as working members of the royal family.
With their children’s schooling and Harry’s security concerns already drawing attention, the family’s privacy is likely to remain under the spotlight.
