Alan Ritchson is having a strong year with several projects. His upcoming movie Runner currently holds a 65% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is scheduled to release on September 11, 2026. Runner is directed by Scott Waugh and stars Ritchson.
Ritchson stars alongside Owen Wilson, Rodrigo Santoro, Adriana Barraza, Sullivan Stapleton, Peta Sergeant, and more. Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter praised the movie’s leads. He wrote, “The brutality becomes off-putting after a while… On the plus side, Ritchson and Wilson display a winning chemistry, their contrasting physicality and acting styles working perfectly for their characters.”
Robert Kojder of Flickering Myth also praised Ritchson’s performance. He wrote, “Runner is a film from a Christian brand with an actual, respectable face of Christianity, often electrifying because of his presence and going viciously hard with its violence.”
Runner isn’t Ritchson’s only project this year, though. He started 2026 strong with War Machine in February. The sci-fi action sits at 66%, with critics and fans giving it slightly lower scores of 63%. Then came Motor City, released back in July.
It currently holds 63% approval from online critics. Fans rated it a bit higher, at 65%. But nothing beats his work on Reacher, which remains Ritchson’s biggest success. The actor continues playing Jack Reacher in the popular Amazon Prime series.
Reacher Season 4 arrived in August 2026. The latest season currently holds an impressive 94% critics’ score, and the fans’ score currently stands at 71%. That makes Reacher clearly Ritchson’s strongest project of 2026.
With Runner arriving in theaters this weekend, fans won’t wait long. The movie could potentially improve its current Rotten Tomatoes score. For now, Reacher Season 4 remains untouched.
