Matilda Lutz’s Venomous Spider Outbreak Horror Movie Arrives in Theaters Today

Horror fans have a new creature feature to check out this Halloween season. A deadly spider infestation turns an apartment building into a nightmare in a new horror film hitting theaters on October 16, 2026.

Starring Matilda Lutz and Gregg Sulkin, Crawlers brings this terrifying premise to theaters today. Directed by Ángel Gómez Hernández, the film combines creature horror with a survival thriller, placing its characters in a desperate fight against an outbreak that grows more dangerous by the second.

What to know about Gregg Sulkin’s new spider horror thriller

Crawlers follows Serena, an apartment building manager played by Lutz, as she tries to protect residents when a catastrophic spider infestation forces authorities to lock down the complex. As the venomous creatures spread, Serena draws on her knowledge of the building to help the trapped residents survive. However, she must also confront her deepest fears as the situation becomes more dire.

Sulkin stars alongside Lutz, with the supporting cast featuring Melina Matthews, Chris Rogers, William Miller, Gary Anthony Stennette, Lea Vivier, and Elena Sanz. The ensemble brings the residents and other characters caught in the outbreak.

Hernández directs the film from a screenplay by Jayson Rothwell, who is also among its producers. The producers include Scott Strauss, Peter Welter Soler, Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Josh Weinstock, and Alexandra Milchan. Meanwhile, Andrew Schwartzberg, Jon Shiffman, and Diarmaid McGrath serve as executive producers.

Roadside Attractions distributes Crawlers, which carries an R rating for brief sexual material, violent content, bloody images, and language. Crawlers runs approximately 86 minutes, giving audiences a compact creature-feature experience built around an increasingly dangerous infestation.

Crawlers has also received an early critical response on Rotten Tomatoes. The film currently holds a 50% Tomatometer score based on 14 critic reviews. The rating reflects a mixed critical reception. Critics have praised aspects of its creature effects and suspense but have also pointed to shortcomings in its storytelling.
