Prince William Was ‘Not Himself’ After Kate Middleton Split, Claims Royal Butler

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s brief breakup in 2007 remains one of the most talked-about moments in their relationship. According to Grant Harrold, the Prince William Kate Middleton split left William noticeably quieter before the couple eventually reconciled.

Royal butler claims Prince William ‘became a little bit withdrawn’ after Kate Middleton split

Former royal butler Grant Harrold has claimed that Prince William was “not himself” during his brief split from Kate Middleton in 2007. Speaking to InStyle while promoting his book “The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life in Royal Service,” Harrold recalled noticing a significant change in William’s demeanor during that period.

According to Harrold, William became quieter and more withdrawn following the breakup. The former royal staffer said he did not ask the prince about the situation. However, he could tell something was different, adding that William did not seem like himself at the time.

Harrold also shared his own theory about the Prince William and Kate Middleton split. He speculated that the couple may have taken time apart because of the intense media scrutiny surrounding their relationship and growing public pressure to announce an engagement. However, he emphasized that this was only his personal opinion and not based on insider knowledge.

The former butler admitted he hoped the separation would only be temporary. When William and Middleton reunited just a few months later, Harrold said he was thrilled to see the couple back together.

In his book, Harrold also reflected on his experiences with Middleton during the early years of her relationship with William. He described her as warm, friendly, and talkative, adding that the public perception of her being shy did not match the person he knew.

Harrold also recalled that Middleton preferred to do things herself during visits to the royal household. Rather than relying on staff, he said she would often help herself to drinks and food, a quality he remembered as part of her down-to-earth personality.
