Elizabeth Olsen’s possible return as Scarlet Witch has received a new insider update. An X post claims her stunt double filmed new material in a familiar Wanda costume.
Marvel scooper My Time to Shine Hello shared the claim and wrote, “Wanda is officially back. Elizabeth Olsen’s stunt double filmed something yesterday wearing this outfit (or one very similar to it).” The post did not identify the production involved.
The claim also does not confirm that Olsen herself filmed new scenes. So it is unclear whether the footage is for a movie, series, reshoots, or another Marvel project. Marvel Studios has not officially announced Olsen’s return as Wanda Maximoff.
Marvel’s plans for Scarlet Witch remain shrouded in mystery
Wanda last appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. She seemingly sacrificed herself while destroying the Darkhold at Mount Wundagore. However, Marvel did not show her body after the mountain collapsed.
The film later established that Wanda destroyed the Darkhold across all universes. This left her fate open-ended as the MCU continued its multiverse storyline.
Olsen has played Wanda since Avengers: Age of Ultron. The character became one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes and a key figure in its supernatural and multiverse stories.
Olsen has also recently addressed her status with Marvel’s next Avengers movies. Deadline reported in March that she said she knew “nothing” about Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. She added that she only knew about VisionQuest because she had spoken with Paul Bettany, who plays Vision.
The Russo Brothers have also addressed Scarlet Witch’s absence from the announced Avengers: Doomsday cast. When asked about Wanda and Captain Marvel, the directors teased that there are “always more surprises,” but they did not confirm whether Olsen will appear in the movie.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Its announced cast includes major MCU, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts characters, but Olsen is not among the confirmed names.
Marvel’s official Avengers: Doomsday materials still do not list Olsen among the confirmed cast. The film’s July trailer also left Scarlet Witch out, while recent reports continue to note her absence from the announced lineup.
