Heated Rivalry Season 2 is adding stars from The Agency and Percy Jackson to its growing cast. Directed by Jacob Tierney, the two actors will play characters tied to Rachel Reid’s Game Changers novel on which the show is based.
The Agency’s Shaheen Jafargholi and Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Daniel Diemer will be joining the cast for the second season of the sports romance show, as per Variety. They will play Fabian Salah and Ryan Price, respectively, who were central characters in the third book, Tough Guy, in Reid’s series.
Season 2 of Heated Rivalry will draw primarily from Reid’s The Long Game, while also incorporating elements from other books in the series. At the moment, neither HBO Max nor Crave has offered an official character description for the newly added cast.
Jafargholi is known for playing Zak in Season 2 of The Agency on Paramount+. He has also starred in War, which is scheduled for release in October. Daniel Diemer, meanwhile, is best known for his role as Tyson in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. His other notable credit is The Half of It, which was released on Netflix in 2020.
What else do we know about Heated Rivalry Season 2?
Season 2 is expected to expand the stories of Ryan and Fabian alongside Shane and Ilya. According to the books, Ryan is an ambitious Canadian player in the National Hockey League. Struggling with significant anxiety and negative body image, Ryan also finds it difficult to stay with a team for long, as he is traded often. Fabian is a Lebanese musician who is openly queer. He is also an indie musician. Based on the books, Ryan is likely to be introduced as a coach at a summer hockey camp, while Fabian will be Ryan’s love interest.
Tierney and executive producer Brendan Brady reflected on the latest casting, saying, “Fabian and Ryan each bring a distinctive energy to the world Rachel Reid has created. They are bold, complicated and deeply compelling characters, and finding actors who could really take on all of those different sides was so important to us.”
They added, “Daniel and Shaheen bring such confidence and emotional honesty to the roles. We can’t wait for audiences to see what they do with Fabian and Ryan and how they make these characters their own.”
Apart from Jafargholi and Diemer, Heated Rivalry Season 2 will also feature Justice Smith, Charlie Gillespie, Emily Hampshire, Edvin Ryding, Robert Naylor, Sabrina Jalees, and Priyanka. Additionally, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie have also been confirmed to return as Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, respectively.
Heated Rivalry Season 2 is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
