Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly set their sights on British broadcasters like the BBC to mint money. This news comes after multiple outlets have reported that the Sussexes are returning to the UK by the end of this month. Harry and Markle previously stepped down from their role as working royals in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California. Now with their upcoming relocation, the couple will reportedly maintain their status as private individuals and non-working members of the Royal Family.

Sources revealed to RadarOnline that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are seeking to collaborate with the BBC to churn out a new source of income. The update comes after their multi-million-dollar agreements with Netflix and Spotify resulted in a disappointing commercial outcome and reportedly couldn’t push them into the league of influential names in Hollywood.
Amid this, a senior British television industry source dished to RadarOnline that the Duke and Duchess are not “abandoning America” yet. However, their relocation to Britain again could open up an “entirely different marketplace.”
“There are conversations to be had with British broadcasters, including the BBC and major commercial networks, about documentaries, factual programming and projects where their names can still command significant attention,” the source added. “Meghan and Harry are especially eyeing the BBC as a potential source of a new cash flow when they move back to Britain.”
For those unversed, when Harry and Markle moved to the US, they embarked on successful business ventures with Netflix and Spotify. They started out with some successful projects like the self-titled documentary on Netflix and Markle’s cooking and lifestyle show, which recently bagged a Daytime Emmy as well.
However, their remaining projects were subsequently called off. Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos reportedly unfollowed Markle and her brand As Ever on Instagram. Spotify executive Bill Simmons publicly berated the Sussexes by calling them “f***ing grifters.”
The Sussexes are now looking forward to adopting a brand-new strategy with the BBC. An insider explained, “The attraction of British television is that Harry and Meghan would not necessarily need another enormous exclusive streaming contract. Individual projects could potentially be developed with different broadcasters, allowing them to generate revenue while keeping far greater flexibility over what they make and where it appears.”
