Jason Statham’s Mutiny Rotten Tomatoes Score Climbs, But Critics Are Still Very Divided

Jason Statham‘s Mutiny has seen its Rotten Tomatoes score fluctuate since its release. The 2026 action thriller opened to largely negative reviews. However, more positive reactions have since begun to emerge.

Earlier this week, Mutiny had a 44% Tomatometer score based on 27 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. As of publication, the score has climbed to 53%, marking an improvement over its initial score. While an official Popcornmeter score isn’t available yet, reviews from verified audiences look positive.

However, despite the disappointing number, Mutiny is not Statham’s lowest-rated movie on RT. That spot currently belongs to the 2007 feature In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, with a 4% Tomatometer score. Meanwhile, the actor’s highest-rated movie is Spy (2015) with a 94% score on the Tomatometer and a 78% score on Popcornmeter.

What are critics saying about Jason Statham’s Mutiny movie?

Mutiny has received mixed reviews from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Some critics have embraced the movie as the straightforward action flick that Jason Statham is known for. However, others have been a lot less forgiving.

Keith Garlington says, “Mutiny is 95 minutes of straightforward action escapism built around a reliable star who can still convincingly and entertainingly get the job done.”

Meanwhile, Douglas Davidson states that Mutiny “delivers exactly what it promises, which means that there aren’t any massive narrative surprises but the stunt work raises the stakes in their place, making for one lean, mean, violence machine and it’s pointed in a very deserving direction.”

Despite the recent surge in Mutiny’s RT ratings, negative reviews still outnumber positive ones on the Tomatometer. Screen Rant’s George Bate said that the film is “Aimless, dull, and uninspired with its action.” Additionally, Region Free’s Joonatan Itkonen said, “Mutiny has so little personality that you could place it in a bus station, and the experience wouldn’t change one bit.”

Directed by Jean-François Richet, Mutiny stars Jason Statham, Annabelle Wallis, Adrian Lester, Jason Wong, and Roland Møller. The movie was released in U.S. theaters on Aug. 21, 2026.
