Good Fortune is now streaming on Prime Video and also marks Ansari’s directorial debut. John Wick star Keanu Reeves takes on a rare comedic role in the movie, a huge shift from his usual action-heavy picks.
The movie was released in theaters in 2025 and received favorable reviews from both critics and audiences. As of today, the movie holds a 76% critics score and an 80% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the movie underperformed at the box office, grossing $26 million against a budget of $30 million, according to The Numbers.
What is Seth Rogen’s Good Fortune movie about?
Good Fortune follows Gabriel, a low-ranking angel played by Keanu Reeves. His job involves protecting people from accidents caused by texting while driving, but Gabriel wants to do more with his powers.
He eventually steps into the life of Arj, a struggling gig worker played by Aziz Ansari. Arj works various odd jobs for Jeff, a wealthy venture capitalist played by Seth Rogen. After seeing Arj facing financial struggles, Gabriel swaps his life with Jeff’s to prove that money cannot solve every problem.
However, his plan quickly backfires as Arj gets comfortable being a rich man. Gabriel loses his wings as punishment and is then forced to experience a human life while trying to convince Arj to switch back to his old life. That part becomes more complicated as Arj refuses to give up his new life. That leaves Gabriel and Jeff to deal with the consequences while Arj continues to enjoy his luxurious lifestyle.
The film also stars an ensemble cast of Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh, Matt Rogers, Penny Johnson Jerald, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Felipe Garcia Martinez, and Sherry Cola.
Distributed by Lionsgate Films, the 97-minute movie is now available to stream on Prime Video.
