Judd Apatow directed the film from a screenplay by Amy Schumer. The comedy movie opened in U.S. theaters on July 17, 2015. The story follows Amy Townsend, who has built her life around keeping romantic relationships casual. Her attitude toward commitment comes from her father, Gordon, whose views on monogamy influenced her after her parents divorced when she was young.
Now working as a magazine writer, Amy continues to avoid long-term relationships until an assignment introduces her to Dr. Aaron Conners, a successful sports doctor. Their professional encounter gradually becomes personal as Amy develops feelings for Aaron and begins questioning the approach to relationships she has followed for years.
The film stars Schumer as Amy Townsend, Bill Hader as Dr. Aaron Conners, Larson as Kim Townsend, Colin Quinn as Gordon Townsend, John Cena as Steven, and Vanessa Bayer as Nikki, among others. Trainwreck received positive reviews from critics. The film holds an 84 percent critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 287 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience rating currently stands at 65 percent.
The comedy also performed well commercially, grossing approximately $140.8 million worldwide against a production budget of $35 million. According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned about $110 million from domestic theaters and more than $30 million from international markets.
