Zombieland is leaving Netflix next month, giving subscribers a limited window to watch the film. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be removed from the streaming platform on September 1, 2026. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Zombieland arrived in U.S. theaters on October 2, 2009. The film combines zombie horror with comedy and follows a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic America.
The story follows Columbus, a college student who has managed to stay alive after a zombie outbreak by following a strict set of rules. While making his way toward Ohio to check on his family, he crosses paths with Tallahassee, a fearless survivor determined to continue moving through the country. The two eventually cross paths with Wichita and her younger sister, Little Rock, forming an unlikely group as they continue their search for a safer place.
Jesse Eisenberg stars as Columbus, with Woody Harrelson playing Tallahassee, and Emma Stone portraying Wichita. Other cast members include Abigail Breslin as Little Rock, Amber Heard as 406, and Bill Murray appearing as a fictionalized version of himself.
The film received strong reviews after its theatrical release. On Rotten Tomatoes, Zombieland has an 89 percent critics’ score based on 255 reviews and an 86 percent audience score. David Harris of Spectrum Culture reported, “Zombieland somehow manages to be refreshing, exciting, gory and funny.”
The film also performed well commercially, earning approximately $102.4 million worldwide. According to Box Office Mojo, the total includes more than $75 million from domestic theaters and just under $27 million from international markets.
