Princess Anne Is ‘Amazing’ in Her Brand New Role — Source

Princess Anne is reportedly cherishing her new role as a step-grandmother after her son’s second marriage in an important news update. For those unversed, Anne’s son, Peter Phillips, whom she shares with her first husband, Captain Mark Phillips, married Harriet Sperling on June 6 in an intimate ceremony in the Cotswolds. It is the second marriage for both Phillips and Sperling. According to reports, Anne has embraced Georgina, Sperling’s daughter from her previous marriage, as part of the brood.

Sources have revealed that Princess Anne is “amazing” as Georgina’s step-grandmother. The update comes as crucial news from the Royal Family. Sperling was previously married to fitness instructor Antonio St. John Sperling. The couple shares a teenage daughter, Georgina.

As per an insider close to the Princess Royal, she has wholly accepted and welcomed Sperling and her child into the fold “with open arms.” Anne is described as an “amazing mother and grandmother,” who is naturally empathetic and nurturing, much like her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The 76-year-old is often called the “hardest-working royal” and is viewed as diligent and focused for her age. However, despite a demanding schedule, Anne likes to keep her family close and spend time with them. Royal author Robert Hardman said, “She’s a very good grandmother. She’s hands-on, but like all grandchildren, I think they can get away with things. She dotes on them.”

Meanwhile, Ailsa Anderson, former communications secretary to Queen Elizabeth, recently gushed over Anne to HELLO!. Anderson said, “She’s a pragmatist, a divorcee herself – and I think, like every parent, she just wants to see her children happy. She adores them and it’s touching to see her with her grandchildren at horse trials, showing them things and looking relaxed in her jeans.”

Not only that, Anne consciously chose not to burden her children, Peter and Zara Tindall, with royal responsibilities. While she stays busy with royal engagements, she chose not to bestow royal titles on her children. Anne explained her decision to Vanity Fair, “I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there are downsides to having titles. So I think that was probably the right thing to do.”
