Meghan Markle reportedly saw one longtime Hollywood friendship cool as politics entered the picture. The Duchess of Sussex and David Foster were once linked through Prince Harry‘s post-royal circle in California. A new source claimed their dynamic had turned “icy” after Foster’s conservative associations drew attention. The report also cited a gala moment that fans read as awkward. It framed the tension as personal, public, and politically charged.
Meghan Markle and David Foster’s relationship is ‘icy’ due to politics, per source
As per Rob Shuter’s Substack, David Foster remained close to Prince Harry. The report described the music producer as a father figure to Harry. However, it claimed Foster’s political associations had created tension with Meghan Markle.
In May, Foster and Katharine McPhee hosted a Brentwood fundraiser for Spencer Pratt. Foster played piano while McPhee performed a rewritten version of Tina Turner’s “The Best.”
Meanwhile, the report said Donald Trump had publicly praised Pratt. He reportedly called him “a big MAGA person.” The Substack claimed Meghan was invited to the fundraiser, but did not attend. Then, another awkward moment followed in Canada.
At Foster’s 40th anniversary foundation gala, a viral video appeared to show him acknowledging Harry. It also appeared to show him walking past Meghan as she reached out. Some viewers called it a snub.
Still, sources framed the issue as a chill rather than a formal break. One insider said, “David and Meghan have been close for years.” The source added, “There is definitely an icy feeling there now.” They also said, “politics is part of it.” Another insider claimed Harry was not “particularly interested in politics.” However, the source said Meghan was “much more politically engaged.”
They added that David Foster had “moved in a very different direction.” For Meghan Markle and Foster, the source said, “They’re not enemies.” But the insider added, “the warmth isn’t what it used to be.”
