Queen Camilla reportedly does not perceive Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, as a threat to her. For those unversed, Camilla is King Charles’ second wife after Princess Diana. Also, according to reports, Charles insisted on Camilla’s presence at Highgrove House during his private royal reunion with the Sussexes and his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, in July.
Sources claim Prince William and Kate could wield greater influence over Camilla’s future royal role
As per sources, Queen Camilla is reportedly well-versed in the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle don’t boast much royal prowess. Hence, they pose less of a threat compared to Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and his wife, Kate Middleton.
As per Closer Online, Camilla wants to continue to assert her influence on the royal family. She allegedly believes that it is easier to embrace a possible reconciliation with the Sussexes over the Waleses.
It is no secret that Camilla shares frosty relations with her husband’s sons, William and Harry. As per various reports, the princes are not too fond of their stepmother. The Duke of Sussex even described her as an evil stepmother in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
As per the outlet, the Queen is simply ensuring that her royal position in the palace remains untouched, and hence, she is keen on a reconciliation with the Sussexes.
An insider dished: “Camilla would like to hold onto her position within the monarchy moving forward, even if Charles, God forbid, is not around. She feels it’s her right to continue to serve in a prominent role. She loves the ceremonial part and the high profile that comes with it, but, more than anything, she doesn’t want to be shunted to one side.”
Camilla has seemingly come to realize that while she may have her issues with the Sussexes, they aren’t a direct threat to her royal position. The Waleses are the future of the monarchy, and they will eventually be in a position to decide her fate.
Hence, the Queen Consort is warming up to the Sussexes for her own personal gain. As per the outlet, she also played a crucial role in orchestrating the private reunion between the King and the Sussexes last month.
